General Firm FAQs

  • How do I know if I need to hire a lawyer?
    • The only way to know is to call us. Most of our litigation cases come to us because one of the parties did not seek the advice or consultation of an attorney prior to engaging in transactions, negotiations, or other activities that affected their legal rights. Call us before you make any big business or legal decisions. Prevention is a small cost to bear.
  • How do I choose an attorney and why should I hire you?
    • You should consult with attorneys regarding your legal issues. As with any professional, you should get a 2nd opinion as each attorney is providing you with their legal opinion regarding your case. Two attorneys may have very different methods of seeking the result you desire and both may be right. Since a legal relationship can be lengthy and extensive, you want somebody you feel comfortable with on many levels such as costs, honesty, skills, and ability to represent you. Call our office today to discuss your legal matters, and see if our firm is right for you.
  • What does Free Consultation mean?
    • During a Free Consultation, we will discuss your legal problems and issues by e-mail, phone, or in person in order for us to determine what legal options you may have. We will discuss the legal options you have including our legal fees to handle your case, further investigations, and documents review, so you can know what results you can expect.
  • Do I have a case?
    • Until you call we cannot tell you whether or not you have a case. In some situations we may require more investigation and research to determine how much of a case you may have and your chances. Call us now to discuss your situation and what we may be able to do to assist you.
  • What type of fee arrangements do you provide?
    • Our law firm offers many types of fee arrangements depending on the services required, the type of case, and the process required to obtain the results expected. We offer billable hourly rates, flat rates and contingent rates based on each cases unique facts and issues. Sometimes, we require a small flat or billable fee in order to investigate and determine the substance of a claim and chances of success so that we can give you reasonable expectations for the outcome of your case.
  • How do I get started with your Law Firm?
    • Call our office regarding your legal issues. In that free consultation, we will determine what legal issues and options you have and what we can do for you along with our price. WE will send you a retainer based on the services you require. Simply sign the retainer and pay the fee and we will immediately open a case file for you with your assigned attorney.
  • How do you keep me informed of what is happening with my case and how often?
    • We will copy you on any relevant document we receive or send. You will also receive a weekly bill of any time and fees that are charged to your account. Flat rate and contingent fee clients will receive regular communications from their attorney via Phone, E-mail, Fax, or mail. Your assigned attorney and our office staff are always available to assist and update you on your case.
  • Can you guarantee me a result?
    • No attorney can guarantee a result. The law is constantly changing. Therefore judges' rulings may vary from each court and over time. No result is guaranteed and no attorney can ethically claim to guarantee a result for you. We can only provide a legal opinion as to the current state of the law, advice a procedure for seeking favorable results, and estimate your chances of success.
  • Is there an immediate need to hire an attorney or can I take my time?
    • You need to talk to an attorney about your legal issues. There are deadlines for filing a claim, answering legal documents, and obtaining legal evidence that can seriously affect your legal case. In addition, you may have timing issues controlled by other factors which need to be considered.
  • What if I cannot come to your office during the business hours? Do you meet other places and times?
    • We have three locations in the Twin Cities Metro area, open during normal business hours, for the convenience of our clients. If those locations and times do not work, our attorneys will meet you after hours or at a convenient location including work or home.
  • Are your facilities wheelchair accessible?
    • Our facilities are wheelchair accessible. If necessary, we will meet you at more convenient locations.
